In 1993-94 the region was represented by 2 teams: Baikal-IBS (later Ermal) from Irkutsk and Shakhter from Cheremkovo
In 1994 top Ermal players joined Shakhter Cheremkovo
In 2002 the team failed to assure finances, and was relegated to B Superleague, a new team in Irkutsk was created Zenit, but in 2004 the team lost the financial support of the aircraft factory, the team ceased to exist
In 2004 a new team BC Irkut was founded taking over players from defunct Zenit
In March 2011 club withdrew from the league because of financial difficulties
