Bottom-ranked Nicaragua U16 (0-15) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 15th consecutive match to fifth ranked UAM Univ. (13-2) 112-63 on Sunday evening. UAM Univ. dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Nicaragua U16's 32. UAM Univ. forced 28 Nicaragua U16 turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. UAM Univ. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Nicaragua U16's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Harry Campos (-2007) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Jean Aristhomene who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. An interesting game took place in Managua where higher ranked Mineros (8-7) were upset on the court of eighteenth ranked UNAN de (4-10) 70-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mineros. The winners were led by Jerssan Espinoza who scored that evening 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and Jason Espinoza supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds by Jose Mccurbia did not help to save the game for Mineros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UNAN de moved-up to fifteenth place. Mineros at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Tigres.
Real Esteli (11-3) was upset by thirteenth ranked Tipitapa (11-3) in Managua. Tipitapa won against higher ranked Real Esteli 70-64 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Real Esteli. Magdiel Rivera fired 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Bryan Casildo produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tipitapa maintains thirteenth position with 6-9 record. Loser Real Esteli keeps the sixth place with three games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: Sebaco lost to Americas 2 on the opponent's court 77-81. Los Bufalos unfortunately lost to Brumas in a home game 85-96. Jaguares rolled over Leon on the road 175-51. San Isidro was defeated by La Libertad on its own court 70-80. Frente was smashed by La Trinidad in Esteli 113-79. Leones destroyed Tigres at home 109-59.




Americas 2 - Sebaco 81-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Sebaco's (6-7) road loss to tenth ranked Americas 2 (8-6) 77-81 on Sunday. Americas 2 forced 27 Sebaco turnovers. Strangely Sebaco outrebounded Americas 2 49-33 including 17 on the offensive glass.
